My name is Edília. I am a Chartered Psychologist with a PhD in Forensic Science-research in Forensic Psychology. I specialised in gender-based violence and the criminal justice response. I also hold a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology and Social Exclusion, alongside a degree in Psychology. I am almost finishing my PgDip in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am trauma-informed and have a particular focus on understanding the psychological impact of systemic and interpersonal violence.

I have been living in England for over 11 years, and my personal and professional journey has been shaped by connecting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. I am deeply interested in the ways our identities, environments, and life experiences influence how we understand ourselves and navigate the world.

My work is grounded in a trauma-informed and justice-oriented approach. I am particularly interested in the impact of experiences such as violence, discrimination, migration, and social exclusion - not only as individual events, but as part of broader social and systemic contexts. I aim to offer a space where people feel safe to explore these experiences, make sense of them, and begin the process of healing and rebuilding.

I have experience working in mental health settings with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. Through both professional roles and voluntary work, I have supported people experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and challenges related to identity and belonging.

At the heart of my work is a strong belief in the power of stories. The ways we make meaning of our experiences can shape how we see ourselves, our relationships, and our future. Therapy offers a space to explore these narratives with care and curiosity, and, where needed, to gently reshape them.

Alongside my clinical work, writing has always been an important part of how I reflect and connect. This space brings together both my professional perspective and personal reflections - as a chartered psychologist, an immigrant, and someone who values depth, meaning, and authenticity. I believe that language can be a powerful tool for understanding, healing, and connection.

My practice offers psychological support for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and emotional difficulties, with particular expertise in supporting those affected by violence, discrimination, and migration-related challenges.

If you are considering therapy, I hope to offer a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported in making sense of your experiences at your own pace.
