Welcome to my blog!
My name is Edília Rodrigues, a Forensic and Social Exclusion Psychologist and trauma-informed CBT trainee with hyperfocus on systemic violence.
I’ve been living in England for over 11 years. I like to connect with people, their cultures, and the rich, complex stories that shape who we are. My work is rooted in justice-oriented, trauma-informed care, with a focus on the psychological impact of systemic violence — the kind of harm that’s built into institutions, policies, and social structures.
I’ve had the privilege of working in mental health settings, supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities. Whether through paid work or volunteering, I’ve always been drawn to the power of stories — the way people make meaning, reclaim identity, and shape their futures through the narratives they hold.
As someone who journals religiously (and has started more blogs than I care to admit!), I’ve finally decided to stick with this one. Why? Because I believe in connection. I believe in the healing power of language. And I believe that writing — both personal and collective — can be a way of witnessing, processing, and transforming.
This blog is a blend of my professional journey and personal reflections — as a psychologist, a woman, an introvert, and an immigrant. It’s a space where I explore trauma, healing, relationships, identity, and justice. A space where both the science and the soul of psychology can live.
I dream of writing a book someday (who knows?), but for now, I’m committed to showing up here — sharing stories, insights, and thoughts from my heart.
Thank you for being here. I hope you feel seen in these words and that we can connect through them.
Take care,
Edília x
